I always enjoy the surprise of a well-known fast food company I grew up with displaying different products not found in the U.S.
The initial awe of, “what the heck?!” is fun.
So, corn pie? Sure… Thai people love corn products too. In the south, you may still find small cart vendors selling hot corn desserts. Of these, one of my favorites is sweet corn ice cream. This is why, after my initial surprise, I said, Sure, why not. I’ve just never seen it at McDs.
The next one on this sign is warm pineapple pie. ‘Nuf said. It’s pineapple. Can’t go wrong with that in a tropical country.
Lastly, hidden under the word, “Pineapple Pie” in a small bubble is a “Chicken Golden Pie.” It has mushrooms. (shrug) It might be really good.
Cost: 19 Baht, equivalent to 57 cents US.
I must admit, I have not yet eaten any of the pies at McDs. I’m still working on eating all the Thai desserts. Since there are so many I may have to wait for my next lifetime.
Until next time, gastronomes!
